ABOUT MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

Municipal Corporation was founded in 1882. Established under the Bombay Municipal Corporation Act, 1888.

The Thane Municipal Corporation was established on 1st October 1982. Thane Municipal Corporation is a local government body that administers the Thane City.

The Thane Municipal Corporation, (T. M. C.) is the civic body that governs the city of Thane, Maharashtra.

The Thane Municipal Corporation is responsible for roads, public transportation, water supply, records of births and deaths (delegated from central government Births and Deaths Registration Act), sanitation that includes waste management, sewage, drainage and flood control, public safety services like fire and ambulance services, gardens and maintenance of buildings. The sources of income of the Corporation are property tax, entertainment tax, octroi (abolished from many cities), by replacing it with Local Body Tax (LBT) and usage fees for utilities.
